An individual who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer program in the region has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.

The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.

She said the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
