Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.
Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.
The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.
Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.
Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
