The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
